MEDIA RELEASE

The Australian Government recently announced Round Three of Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF). The fund is set to unlock key infrastructure and community investments in regional Australia, including the Illawarra.

The $200 million round announced by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development the Hon. Michael McCormack MP, is seeking eligible applications to build better regions.

One of the key priorities of Round Three is the allocation of $45 million on specific tourism-related infrastructure projects in the hope to capitulate regional tourism and local jobs. The Minister mentioned Wollongong as a regional centre that could have their tourism potential unlocked.

While tourism is the emphasis for Round Three of BBRF, there are also opportunities for other infrastructure and community investments.

In previous rounds, projects that have received funding varied from new aged-care facilities to freight access to new airports. The last round saw two Illawarra businesses receive infrastructure funding; IRT Group and Illawarra Area Child Care.

BBRF is a competitive funding process and RDA Illawarra is encouraging and assisting interested parties to apply.

Applications for Round Three close on the 15 November 2018. More information about the Fund can be found here or contact your local RDA Illawarra on 4258 3611.
