The Hon Michael McCormack MP, Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development has announced the projects to be funded under Round Three of the Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF).

The $641.6 million Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF) supports the Australian Government’s commitment to create jobs, drive economic growth and build stronger regional communities into the future.

Round Three was highly competitive with 915 applications received under both streams.  A total of 166 projects to the value of $197.4 million have been approved for funding under the Infrastructure Projects Stream, and 164 projects to the value of $6.9 million have been approved for funding under the Community Investments Stream.

RDA Illawarra congratulates the two successful Illawarra regional projects benefiting from the Community Investment Stream, being Inaugural Destination Sydney Surrounds South Tourism Symposium (Destination Sydney Surrounds South Ltd) and Business of Welcome:  A Strategy for refugee employment (SCARF Incorporated).

In previous rounds, projects that have received funding varied from new aged-care facilities to freight access to new airports. The last round saw two Illawarra businesses receive infrastructure funding; IRT Group and Illawarra Area Child Care.
