The Growing Regions Program drives regional economic prosperity by providing access to funding for community-focused infrastructure projects throughout rural and regional areas of Australia.

Grants between $500,000 and $15 million to cover 50% or more of eligible expenditure.

Who is this for?

Incorporated non-profit organisations, First Nations Community Controlled Organisations and local government agencies or bodies in regional areas.

Overview

The Growing Regions Program – Round 1 will deliver grants up to a maximum of $15,000,000 over 3 years to deliver community infrastructure projects.

It will deliver community and economic benefits by investing in community-focused infrastructure which revitalises regions and enhances amenity and liveability throughout regional Australia.

The objectives of the program are:

  • constructing or upgrading community infrastructure that fills an identified gap or need for community infrastructure
  • contributing to achieving a wide range of community socio-economic outcomes
  • is strategically aligned with regional priorities.

The intended outcomes of the program are:

  • delivery of community-focused infrastructure which contributes to local and regional priorities
  • provision of infrastructure which benefits the community by improving equity and supports diverse social inclusion
  • to contribute to the achievement of broader Government priorities such as net zero emissions, gender equity, and/or First Nations priorities
  • growing local economies and enhancing amenity and liveability in the regions.

Growing Regions Program Round 1 will be delivered through a two-stage selection process.

You must first submit an Expression of Interest at Stage 1 and if successful, you will be invited to submit a full application at Stage 2.

Building Better Regions Fund - ROUND 6

Building Better Regions Fund - ROUND 6

ROUND SIX OF BBRF OFFICIALLY OPEN.

Round 6 of Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF) has been announced by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development, with $250 million available across two regional project streams – Infrastructure Projects & Community Investments. Round 6 applications are currently open and will close on Thursday, 10 February 2022. 

In Round 6, Infrastructure Projects Stream will support investment ready projects that provide economic and social benefits for regional areas. Grants of $20,000 to $10 million to cover 50% of eligible project costs are available. The projects can be either construction of new infrastructure, or the upgrade of existing infrastructure. The project needs to deliver economic and social benefits to a regional community. More information here.

The Community Investment Stream will support new or expanded local events, strategic regional plans or leadership and capability strengthening activities that provide economic and social benefits for regional areas. Grants of $5,000 to $1 million to cover 50% of eligible project costs are available. More information here.

Building Better Regions Fund

Building Better Regions Fund

Round 5 has been announced by the Deputy Prime Minister, with $200 million available in 2021 to create jobs and drive economic growth in regions.

$100 million has been targeted to support tourism-related infrastructure projects, while a further $100 million will support broader community infrastructure and investment.

There are two streams of funding available under the Building Better Regions Fund program: 

Infrastructure Projects Stream
The Infrastructure Projects Stream supports projects that involve the construction of new infrastructure, or the upgrade or extension of exiting infrastructure.

Community Investments Stream
The Community Investments Stream funds community development activities, including, but not limited to, new or expanded local events, strategic regional plans, leadership and capability building activities.

SME Export Hubs Grants

SME Export Hubs Grants

The Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Export Hubs provides grants from $150,000 to $1.5 million to help establish and/or operate SME export hubs in the six Growth Centre sectors. The export hubs will work with Growth Centres to facilitate SME export opportunities.

The six Growth Centre sectos include:

  • Advanced Manufacturing
  • Cyber Security
  • Food and Agribusiness
  • Medical Technologies and Pharmaceuticals
  • Mining Equipment, Technology and Services
  • Oil, Gas and Energy Resources

Port Kembla Community Investment Fund

Port Kembla Community Investment Fund

The NSW Government established the Port Kembla Community Investment Fund as an ongoing program linked to the long term lease of Port Kembla. The objective of the fund program is to activate, enhance and build community amenity in Port Kembla. Amenity in this context is defined as the pleasantness, attractiveness or liveability of a location for residents, workers and visitors.

The program is designed to achieve:

  • Increased economic activity
  • Enhanced activation and connectivity of public infrastructure, precincts and community spaces
  • Improved environmental air, land and waterway quality

Regional Growth Fund

The Regional Growth Fund provided grants of $10 million or more for major transformational projects which support long-term economic growth and create jobs in regions undergoing structural adjustment.
