Mark Roberts

Mark is Senior Manager, Strategic Projects at the University of Wollongong where he has had a leading role in the development of UOW’s $500M+ Health and Wellbeing Strategy, which includes projects in Sydney and across the Illawarra and South Coast. Mark has also played a key role in the recent establishment of the University’s South Western Sydney Campus.

For 12 years Mark worked for the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet and prior to that for the NSW Department of State and Regional Development and the Riverina Regional Development Board. Through these roles he has contributed to many local and regional planning and development strategies across the Illawarra, South East NSW, Riverina-Murray and Western Sydney. He is an experienced regional development policy-maker and practitioner and has assisted in securing over $1 Billion of business and industry investment in towns and cities across Southern NSW.

Mark has a Bachelor of Town Planning and he is a graduate of the Australian Rural Leadership Program. He believes that the rapid growth and development of Western Sydney is opening up major new opportunities for the Illawarra and is already working to forge stronger links between both regions to support jobs growth and greater prosperity.
