Kiama Blowhole and Harbourside Precinct

The Kiama Harbour precinct is a tourism drawcard that attracts visitors to the Illawarra region from Australia and around the world.  This project proposes the development of tourism and recreational facilities in the Kiama Harbour and Kiama Blowhole Point Reserve.

RDAI provided a written letter of support to KMC.  A funding application was submitted to the Federal Government under the Community Infrastructure Program.  However, Kiama Municipal Council’s application was unsuccessful.

As part of Council’s application, they have committed a contribution of $300,000. With the rejection of the application, Council is to expend this money in the current 2010/2011year on the construction of a new amenities block comprising toilets and change rooms at Black Beach in the vicinity of the rock pool.  Of the 25 odd elements this was deemed to be the number one priority.
