RDA Illawarra recognises the many regional assets that make the Illawarra an ideal place to live and visit. Our geographic position, physicality and distance to Sydney all place us in a key position as a preferred tourism destination. Hence, we will continue to pursue initiatives that promote the region as a place to holiday, do business and to raise a family. Such initiatives may include promoting the area as a preferred conference and events destination and the necessary infrastructure required, and looking at innovative ways to promote the region to both the domestic and international markets.

Our ex-officio Board Member, Greg Doyle, will be Chairing the Sub-Committee on Tourism. Current projects that fall within this priority include:

• Kiama Blowhole and Harbourside Precinct.

Completed projects under this priority includes the Wollongong Convention and Exhibition Centre Feasibility Study and the Wollongong - Our City DVD project.
