Maldon Dombarton Rail Link Feasibility Study

The proposed Maldon-Dombarton rail link is a 35 km standard gauge rail line connecting the Illawarra line from Wollongong to the Main Southern Line running from Sydney via Campbelltown.  The line was originally proposed and partially constructed by the NSW government, commencing in 1983.  Construction ceased in 1988 following a reassessment of the demand by the NSW Government.  A Pre-Feasibility Study was completed and released in July 2009.  The Australian Government announced a funding commitment of $3m towards a Feasibility Study of the rail line.

ACIL Tasman Pty Ltd and Hyder Consulting Plc are undertaking the feasibility study into Maldon-Dombarton rail link.  The Study is due mid 2011 and is currently on schedule.

RDA Illawarra is a member of the Project Reference Group who has met on a number of occasions in 2010 and will meet again in March 2011 to receive an update on the progress of the study.
