Illawarra Institute for Regional Leadership

The concept for an Illawarra Institute for Regional Leadership was presented at RDA Illawarra's inaugural Regional Leaders Summit in 2009. 

Since that date, a number of meetings have been held to develop the concept further.  More recently however, two Focus Group sessions were held on 11 March 2011 with over 70 people from throughout the region in attendance providing their views on the concept, what it should comprise, ideas for a way forward and also nominating to participate in the project in a variety of ways eg. Steering Committee participation, coaching/mentoring etc.

Following all feedback received, the Steering Committee convened its first meeting on 7 April 2011.  At that meeting, representatives from the Geelong Institute for Regional Leaders joined in with the Committee and discussed the strategy they adopted to progress an Institute in their region.  After this discussion, the Committee had a more broader discussion on the development of a business plan and strategy document which are both currently being worked on.
