Broadband / Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

RDA Illawarra acknowledges the growth potential of the region’s ICT sector, particularly the high value work that is being produced by the University of Wollongong. We will therefore support initiatives that encourage infrastructure development that supports this sector and assists with graduate retention in the region.

We will also continue to stay abreast of the National Broadband Network rollout at Kiama Downs and Minnamurra and to work with the Federal government to have the remainder of the Illawarra included in the next tranche of the National Broadband Network roll out.

Our Board Member, Geoff McQueen, will be Chairing the Sub-Committee on Broadband / ICT.  Current projects that fall within this priority include:

• NBN Rollout - remainder of the Illawarra
• Centre of Excellence in E/M Governance (View 2010 Summit presentation on this project here)

Completed projects within this priority include the successful submission to Minister Stephen Conroy for the roll out of the NBN in Kiama and Minnamurra. View the submission here.
